IMEC hosted the 1st Pride Conference on Friday, July 28 at the Living Arts Centre in Mississauga. There were 2 sessions : (1) South Asians and Pride : Are we there yet, (2) Economic Impact of Pride on Ontario and Canada. Several prominent Organizations like Pride Toronto, Rainbow Sauga Alliance, Naach for Fun and PFlag Canada Peel Region participated in this first-ever Pride Conference. Parents of LGBTQ+ Kids also spoke about the challenges and experiences in their day-to-day lives.
Acting Mayor of Mississauga, Stephen Dasko also participated and spoke at the event.
